Both Teeth and a Blankie

Now you can really see those two bottom teeth. And let me tell you, they are sharp! He's already cut me twice with them (once on the cheek while he was giving me a kiss and once on my thumb while he was chewing on it.)
We have a tradition in our family of giving babies silky blankets because they just seem drawn to them (it started with Lauren). This is Lucas' new baby size silky from my mom.
Just crawling around.

Cute little sleepy boy
He got a little silly while we were playing peek-a-boo and ended up with a "shawl" over his head.
Playing Peek-a-poo right.

Recent Happenings and Crawling Videos

Here are a couple of picks of Lucas doing his thing!
His second tooth came in too, but we haven't gotten any pics of it yet, so maybe that will be a later post.
Here he is inside the ottoman that we got to store his toys. He thinks it's a great toy.

He has finally learned how to push himself into a sitting up position from crawling, so we find him sitting a lot more now.

He likes practicing walking on Daddy's feet.

Practicing his bear crawl.

At his first parade on Pioneer Day.

Trying to win at the cookie walk. Lucas was looking at the guy who calls out who wins.

That's a rubber ducky in his mouth. He's starting to like bath time more and more now that he can move around!

Here are some videos of Lucas "crawling". He's getting the hang of crawling right, but he still prefers this method for getting places quickly.
This one is dark because we didn't want him to see that we were recording it. (I just watched it and it's REALLY dark. Sorry about that, I hope you can see how cute it is still. He is very excited and cruising across the floor to his daddy.)

In this one, he caught us so he made a straight line to the camera.

6 Months!

Lucas is 6 months old now!
A few facts about our cute little boy:
This picture above is of his new tooth! It's pretty hard to see but it's his bottom right tooth (on the left side of the picture). Maybe clicking on it and making it bigger will help you see it.

He weighs in at an even 15lbs and a nice lean 27inches.

He loves to nurse, but he is expanding his palate to sweet potatoes and the ever important root beer and root beer floats. However, he will try anything once, including things that aren't technically food.

He can pretty much crawl now and he loves his newfound mobility.

He is really good at putting himself to sleep and he loves to roll around in his crib and talk to himself.

He LOVES to talk on the phone. If the phone rings, he always thinks it's for him and wants to talk to anyone who's on the phone. Once he gets started telling his stories, he doesn't want to stop. His Grandma Rigby and he sure know how to carry on a good conversation!

He likes it when daddy rocks him to sleep at night by holding him really tight and singing to him.

He loves to play with daddy more than anything! When the two of them get going all you can hear is giggles. His favorite is when daddy "gets him" and tickles him.

Lucas also has a newfound love of books. I think his favorite is Dr Seuss' "Hand hand fingers thumb."

He loves singing songs. His favorites are Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree, The Itsy bitsy spider, and Once there was a snowman (especially when the snowman is melting).

He also loves to cuddle and watch Disney movies.

He likes learning. When he is upset, all I have to do is count for him or practice his sign language and he gets all excited.

A continuation from the last post... Here he is with more stuff in his mouth. He does this funny thing with his tongue when he is holding a ring so that it stays in his mouth. It makes him drool more, if that's possible.

This is the only picture I got of him with this ring in his mouth, so he looks a little funny, but here it is in all its glory.

The little cutie thinks these are blankies. He cuddles them in his crib and usually has one in his mouth.

Crackers and Socks

Everyone who knows Jared knows that crackers are not safe when he is around. Apparently, I'm going to have the same problem with Lucas.

"Daddy, just put that cracker in my mouth."

"Fine, if you won't put it in my mouth, I'll just take it."

"Good idea, Dad. Let's share. I'm good at sharing."

Next, I told my sister Erin about Lucas' new habit of crawling around with things in his mouth. Today's item was a sock (clean at the time, although I'll admit I don't think I would take his own sock from him even if it was dirty) that he stole from the laundry. So, Erin, here is the illustration of my story. I figured other people might enjoy it too.

Real Food, Crawling, and Grass

The computer issues have not been fully resolved, so it is kinda touch and go when I get to load pictures. Apparently, today is the day, so here is an update.
So, Lucas has begun to eat real food. He had his first rice cereal about 3 weeks ago. He was really excited about the whole process...
But he is VERY serious about eating. Very few smiles.

Lucas is such a cuddler, he usually falls asleep in his crib cuddling the bumper pads. Much like this.
First sweet potatoes. Again, very serious.

We put on some of Jared's old outfits to take pictures in them before Lucas outgrew them.
Great big smile doing the superman pose again. He is always in this position.Doing pushups.
Sitting up alone and sporting his kneepads. He can situp alone when he's not distracted by things that knock him over backward, like anything above or behind him. This is from the Fourth of July. We don't get to see the grass much in Vegas, but Lucas is a big fan, so whenever we are near it, he has to play in it.

This is a blurry pic of Lucas' first fireworks. You can see one on the right side of the pic. They were being shot off all over the valley, so we got up nice and high to be able to see them all. Lucas really seemed to like them, but he also didn't seem so sure as to what they were.
This video is of Lucas eating for the first time. You can see what I mean about our normally smiley boy getting all serious.

This is not his best attempt, but it's the best I have on video yet. You can see clearly how he picks his target (almost always the DVDs), pulls up his knees, rocks, scoots a knee or two forward, shifts his weight and reaches for his target. He can also easily change directions, as he demonstrates by finding me video taping him.
