He is always up to something!

Here are some pictures of Lucas' recent adventures.

He loves the kitchen. He got out the crockpot and was "walking" it around the kitchen the other day.

Lucas helped daddy with a lot of yardwork. They were out there for a few hours and Lucas was so happy the whole time, even though he isn't smiling here. It was more of a "serious business" happy.

He used the tools that daddy was done with.

He also ate some of the dirt... or a lot of it.

He was very good at digging.

He wasn't sure why I interrupted his hard work to take pictures.

He had to wear church clothes to mutual one night, so we decided to just let him go in casual church clothes.

Daddy's Little Helper

Lucas loves to help daddy with his projects around the house. Here he's holding his wrench on his way to help daddy install our new wheat grinder.

We go to playgroup every week, so we decided to take Daddy to our favorite park on Saturday because it was a BEAUTIFUL day!

This is one of his first times down the slide. He doesn't know what to think, but he is doing excited hands so it can't have been all that bad.

Last night he got into the goldfish in his diaper bag and decided that they needed to be spread on the floor.

(Notice how in the last two pictures he is holding a toothbrush. He loves that thing. It almost never leaves his hand. Don't worry I boil it often because it gets gross fast.)

Dopey

For Halloween we decided that Lucas needed to be Dopey Dwarf. He looked SO cute! He even was sticking out his tongue like Dopey! I wish we could take credit for that, but he was doing it on his own!

Jared finished putting up the BEST food storage shelves ever in the garage! They are so strong! I can put anything on them! Now I just need to do it.

He loves climbing. He also loves his bouncy chair now that he's pretty much outgrown it.

Front Yard Excavation

This actually wasn't as fun as the title implies....

We recently had a huge backup in our main drain line due to some serious roots. The plumber quoted us a ridiculous (although probably fairly accurate) rate to fix it, (and they weren't planning on digging at all) so Jared decided he could fix it himself. I sure do love my handyman.

This is the beginning of the excavation. Actually, as you can see, he is already pretty deep, but he still had a long way to go.

This is the illustrate that we live in the desert, so it was all pretty much rock which made it so much more interesting. That tool he was using is a chipping hammer.

This is the excavation site right in the middle of our small front yard. It was late at night. Jared worked on it from very early Saturday morning until late Saturday night.

The hole with a good view of the pipe. When Jared got down about 7 feet, he realized the pipe was a little to the side of where the plumbers had estimated, so he ended up making a little tunnel/cave to get over to the pipe.

He then made the pleasant discovery that this is how the pipe was connected after the removal of the roots. They weren't even connected at all, probably since the time the house was built. This was taken of it exactly how Jared found it minus the root covering.

In a brief Lucas update, he was helping mom sort balloons for the halloween carnaval.

Walking Videos

Lucas took his first unassisted steps this last Tuesday. He and I were just sitting in the living room and he decided that he wanted to walk the two steps it would take to get my cell phone within reach. I was shocked! He has been doing really well cruising and standing on his own, but he has not been motivated to actually take any steps, usually he just drops to his bottom and crawls away. Now he wants to practice a lot every day. He still likes it when we stay close, but he is really good at catching himself when he falls, so I think soon he'll be even more ready to walk without someone nearby.
So, in one of the videos he is really whiny... we had to wait until night to take it so there would be one to film and one to catch, and so it's close to his bedtime. He just wanted Daddy to cuddle him, so he's complaining a lot. Just turn the sound down and enjoy the cute boy!

Reading Books

Lucas LOVES reading books. He can't get enough of them. This is Lucas reading with Daddy.
